The Opportunity
Value First Staffing Solutions Inc. is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Shipping & Inventory Coordinator to support our Public Sector client’s warehouse operations in Edmonton. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of controlled inventory and ensuring the efficient flow of materials through shipping and receiving.
You will be responsible for inventory control, safe equipment operation, and the accurate documentation of high-security materials within a structured warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage day-to-day warehouse logistics and inventory accuracy:
- Shipping & Receiving: Coordinating the movement of goods in a warehouse setting, ensuring all shipments are documented and processed accurately.
- Inventory Control: Maintaining precise records of controlled inventory using computerized management systems.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operating material handling equipment, including a Reach Truck and other warehouse machinery.
- Data Management: Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and GP Dynamics to track inventory levels and generate reports.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhering strictly to OHS standards and working-alone policies within a secure, high-stakes environment.
- Facility Support: Ensuring the warehouse remains organized and functional while meeting daily distribution targets.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Licensing: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Safety Gear: Must own and wear CSA-approved safety footwear.
- Technical Experience:
- 2 years of experience in Shipping & Inventory Control within a warehouse setting.
- 1 year of experience specifically driving/operating a Reach Truck.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- 1 year of experience with computerized Inventory Management systems.
- 1 year of experience using MS Office Suite and GP Dynamics.
- 1 year of experience working with controlled inventory or within a secure environment.
- 1 year of experience with OHS Standards and working-alone policies.
- Current Forklift training and certification.
Working Conditions & Requirements
- Location: Physical warehouse location in Edmonton.
- Work Schedule: Full-time (36.25 hours per week)
- Physical Demand: Active role requiring the operation of heavy machinery and manual material handling.
- Security: This role involves working in a secure environment; a successful criminal record check is mandatory.
